VA Fury Platinum Hudenburg kicked off their Fall 2025 season in dominant fashion, finishing 6-0 and capturing the Championship in the USSSA Potomac River Clash NIT.
Playing up in the 18B Division, the team outscored opponents 48-11 behind explosive offense and strong pitching. Izzy Franco (Lightridge ’29) sparked momentum in the semifinals with a two-run shot over the fence, while the pitching trio of Franco, Maya Elmore (Loudoun County ’29), and Avery Payne (McLean ’28) combined for 40 strikeouts across six games.
The Championship game—a rematch from pool play—was a thriller. Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Elmore doubled to left, driving in the tying run and sending the game into ITB. Down again 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, clutch hits from Jez Abreu (Freedom ’28) and Kam Staley (Jefferson ’29) sealed the comeback and secured the title.
Next up, Fury Platinum heads to Richmond for the Alliance Super Cup Stage 1, where another highly competitive slate awaits
